What's the expression, "name it to tame it?" Good for you for seeking out what you need, and even more impressed now with all you've done, and all the adventures you've taken us on.

Peace. I appreciate the post. As someone who was also diagnosed with ADD as an adult, what you describe is very close to my own experience and I can relate. Full steam ahead is very different for people like us and it’s the best when we know what that is. Thanks.

Hey there, I was 44 when I got the diagnosis for ADHD and my reaction was very similar to yours. Amazed and relieved that I had a name to apply to what I felt, but a wave of sadness for not knowing and working on it decades before. One of the online people I've found really helpful is Jessica @ HowtoADHD (https://www.youtube.com/c/HowtoADHD/featured). I wish you the best on your journey and always looking forward to your work.

"But then a quieter voice -- one you really have to struggle to hear -- hints that maybe, maybe it can be different going forward. That a life you thought was beyond your reach might not be. I'm trying real hard to listen to that voice right now. Kinda feels like the only way forward."

This is the key. We won't be able to ever silence the critical voice in our heads. In reality, that critical voice intention is to help us but it isn't very good at it. What you said above is introducing a more compassionate voice in addition to the critical voice that already is well developed for your past 46 years. An option to pause and see there is a choice to see other options. Every time we listen to the compassionate, we have the opportunity to reparent ourselves in the moment. Good luck on this journey. I'm very happy for you being able to get therapy and start your treatment now. Thank you for sharing this personal side as it role models to so many being real and seeking help. With much respect and gratitude, maka
